The Best Hotels in Naples, Italy
Situated in southern Italy, Naples is the third-largest city in the country, trailing only Rome and fashion-forward Milan, and continues to be a hive of activity. The city is full of vibrant artistic scenes, historic hotspots, and some of the best beaches in the region. It's also played supporting roles in many Hollywood hits. But, maybe most importantly, it is the birthplace of pizza. The hotels are equally as charming—tip-to-toe in Pompeiian mosaic tiles and gallery-esque walls against the azure blue waters right outside your window. From boutique boltholes in Rione Sanità to revitalized grande dames in Centro Storico, these are the best hotels in Naples.
Atelier Inès Arts & Suites, Rione Sanità
Best for: design
Opened in early summer 2021, this small hotel (just six individually designed rooms) serves as a showcase for artist Annibale Oste, whose works from the 1960s onwards are collected here. The building itself has an interesting backstory, a family home on the site of an open-air cinema and theater dating back to 1900, in the middle of the Vergini neighbourhood. The ground floor was home to Oste's art studio, but it evolved under his son Vincenzo, who has now decided to open it up to guests. Nearby is Ciro Oliva, the Michelin-starred pizza restaurant, and Pasticceria Poppella—both of which will be involved in culinary experiences for those staying here, and landmarks such as the city's opera house and catacombs.
